All Your Eggs In One Basket?

A Farmers wife collects up the eggs from the barn to take to market, putting them carefuly into her basket.
On her way she meets a friend and gives her half the eggs she has plus half an egg.
She then meets the postman and gives him half the remaining eggs plus half an egg.
Her first customer of the morning buys half the eggs that are left plus half an egg.
Her basket now empty, she returns home.
How many eggs did she start off with?
